Originally the Common Market,
Café Nora opened in 1990 offering a wide ranging menu with a Southern European flair. Southern European cuisine highlights regional dishes from a wide range of foods and cultures, allowing owners Debra and Jim Nethercott the ability to offer dishes from countries like Spain, France, Italy and Greece.
The seasonally changing menu showcases both Jim Nethercott's and the chef's experience in offering a variety of chef specials, such as lamb, lobster and fresh fish. Jim Nethercott's commitment to fresh fish stems from his experience of managing a fresh seafood restaurant for 14 years. Fresh wood-roasted salmon and rainbow trout are always on the menu, and this summer
Café Nora has featured Canadian walleye, ahi tuna, swordfish, Florida grouper and Alaskan halibut. The wood oven at
Café Nora burns oak and apple wood, adding delicate aromas and flavors to the fresh fish as well as many other dishes.
Café Nora offers a variety of lunch specials and specialty dishes. The asiago-crusted tilapia is baked in the wood oven to give a pleasant crunch to the cheese. Crab cakes with roasted red pepper aioli sauce or eggplant parmesan can make for a delicious meal. From the steak sandwich to specialty pizzas and pastas along with a variety of delicious salads (the warm wild mushroom salad is the most popular) the lunch menu offers a wide selection, whether one is in a hurry or enjoying a leisurely meal.
Two of the most popular entrees with
Café Nora dinner guests are the French lasagna and the cassoulet. The lasagna is presented with shrimp, prosciutto ham, ricotta mush-rooms, peppers and tomatoes and served with shallot sauce. The cassoulet is a regional dish with a delicious blend of prosciutto ham, pork, chicken, white beans, vegetables and chorizo sausage; a vegetarian option is also available.
Another special feature at
Café Nora is the Spanish dish, paella. Traditionally served at family gatherings and enjoyed by all, paella is a wonderfully creative meal.
Café Nora makes their paella with chorizo sausage, pork, chicken, prosciutto ham, shrimp, mussels, peas and saffron rice. The aromas are tantalizing and the portion is ample; paella is served for one or for two.
Café Nora's wine list offers a variety of wines from California, Australia, France, Italy and Spain. Whether sampling an appetizer on thepatio with a refreshing pinot grigio or enjoying a meal in the dining room with a hearty cabernet sauvignon, there is a wine for every palette.
